For the month of August, I wanted to celebrate the world's most famous neighbor. After reading the book "The Simple Faith of Mr. Rogers" by Amy Hollingsworth, I was inspired to do small water color portraits of my favorite of his quotes, as well as a sweater for him.

I hope you're proud of yourself for the times you've said 'yes', when all it meant was extra work for you and was seemingly helpful only to someone else.

August 29thWhen I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

August 30thKnowing that we can be loved exactly as we are gives us all the best opportunity for growing into the healthiest of people.

August 23rdWho you are on the inside is what helps you make and do everything in life.

August 24thIt's very important, no matter what you may do professionally, to keep alive some of the healthy interests of your youth. Children's play is not just kid's stuff. Children's play is rather the stuff of most future inventions.

August 19thThe thing I remember best about successful people I've met all through the years is their obvious delight in what they're doing and it seems to have very little to do with worldly success. They just love what they're doing, and they love it in front of others.

August 20thI'm fairly convinced that the kingdom of God is for the broken-hearted. You write of 'powerless.' Join the club, we are not in control, God is!

August 17thIt always helps to have people we love beside us when we have to do difficult things in life.

August 18thThe real issue in life is not how many blessings we have, but what we do with our blessings. Some people have many blessings and hoard them. Some have few and give everything away.

August 7thLove is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare the two things to see if they're equally infinite. Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

August 8thThere is no "should" or "should not" when it comes to having feelings. They're part of who we are and their origins are beyond our control. When we can believe that, we may find it easier to make constructive choices about what to do with those feelings.

August 3rdLove and trust, in the space between what's said and what's heard in our life, can make all the difference in the world.

August 4thIf only you could sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to people you may never even dream of. There's something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.

August 1stI've often hesitated in beginning a project because I've thought "it'll never turn out to be even remotely like the good idea I have as I start." I could just "feel" how good it could be. But I decided that, for the present, I would create the best way I know how and accept the ambiguities.

August 2ndSolitude is different from loneliness, and it doesn't have to be a lonely kind of thing.
